Corporate ladder escapee.
Well- paid writer.
Years ago I thought this was beyond my reach.
I had a good career. Job security.
I was doing what I thought I 'should' - but I wasn't doing what made me happy.
But no one gets paid to do that, right?
Living the dream is for the lucky ones - not for normal folks like you and I.
This type of thinking held me back for years.
It kept me stuck in horrible workplaces with awful bosses, which caused a number of debilitating illnesses.
I knew deep down there was more to life.
But I didn't know where to start.
And to tell the truth, I didn't have the courage to go after the life I wanted.
I needed to do what worked for me.
As a coach, I knew how to get the best from others, so I applied the same methodology to myself.
I studied, applied what I learned and developed tailor-made tools for pumping out quality writing around a full time job.
Being busy, I had to be organised and I had to get results. No time for 'playing' at being a writer and making a living from it.
It took time, tears and plenty of naughty words, but I learnt things I never thought I'd master - like website design and social media advertising.
I set up multiple websites, published six books and wrote an 85,000 word novel - all while working full time.
I took one step after another, and created my own path towards my dream.
While on that journey I changed my thinking and increased my confidence. I also discovered new ways of making my dream happen.
And I came to a point where I backed myself. I found my voice.
I threw away the security of my long career and started writing professionally.
If I can do it, so can you.
